Assassins
Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins gathers nine people who tried to kill an American president into one carnival shooting gallery, from John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald. They argue across a century of history, egg each other on, and sing about what they were owed. The music is Sondheim at his most restless, moving from banjo march to ballad to barbershop, and the jokes land hard before the show turns on you. Red Tree Theatre presents it at their Tuggerah venue from 11 to 27 September 2026.
