Carousel
Neglected Musicals present Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel for a limited season at the Foundry Theatre, directed by Lisa Callingham. It is the company's 36th presentation. This is a semi-staged concert reading: no set, no costumes, and the cast perform with scripts in hand. Billy Bigelow, a swaggering carnival barker, falls for the quiet mill worker Julie Jordan, and the marriage goes badly wrong. The 1945 score carries If I Loved You, June Is Bustin' Out All Over and You'll Never Walk Alone. Music by Richard Rodgers, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.
