Hadestown: Teen Edition
Gungahlin College Theatre Company present Anaïs Mitchell's folk opera in its Teen Edition. Two stories run together and meet in the underworld: Orpheus and Eurydice, young and broke and in love as winter comes on, and Hades and Persephone, a marriage running cold after centuries. Eurydice takes the train down to Hadestown for work and a warm bed, and Orpheus goes after her with nothing but a song. Everyone in the audience knows how it ends. Hermes tells it anyway, because it is a sad song and we sing it again as though it might turn out differently.
